Abstract

Multimedia visualizations made in the CAD system presenting chosen mechanical hazards occurring in garages, in order to support workers training of workers in the field of health and safety at work.

Project manager: Adam Zamojski M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

Mechanical hazards occurring in car repairing garages were defined and factors frequently causing injuries. Then, on the basis of accidents descriptions provided by the Agency for Safety and Health at Work (OSHA) of United States Department of Labor conducted an analysis of the basic accident situations. Using the program 3Ds Max, three-dimensional computer models of garage equipment elements and models of virtual mechanics were developed and prepared five visualization scenarios presenting an accident situation. Based on those scenarios, five multimedia visualizations presenting the three most common accident situations at work were prepared: a threat of slipping on a puddle of spilled oil and tripping over pneumatic screwdriver cord, threat of being crushed by a car falling from the lift, risk of hand injury with an angle grinder. Training and information materials were developed and seminars for 25 people in three garages were conducted.
