Abstract

Remote Monitoring System of proper hearing protector use.

Project manager: Leszek Morzyński Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The task set out structure and requirements of the individual remote monitoring system components in order to properly use hearing protectors: noise measurement systems integrated with hearing protectors, wireless data transmission and control system with software. Based on developed requirements two technical solutions were proposed for system model, which further on were tested in laboratory conditions. Test results became basis for the development of two prototype design solutions for surveillance of proper hearing protectors usage. Within the framework of the tasks for each model were developed and produced system coordinator network ZigBee, router system and exposimeters system. Control system was also developed and consisted of a computer with specialized software. Made for the remote maintenance purpose software is written in Java language and works with MySQL database software. It allows to enter information regarding hearing protectors assigned to specific users to the database, as well as, direct real time view on the results of measurements obtained for a chosen protector. Additional element developed for the needs of the system is the calibrator exposimeters system, which enables to check the correctness of exposimeters indications and the designation of calibration amendments for measurement systems, used in order to determine parameters of noise. A prototype of the system was tested under industrial verification, in a large industrial plant (forge), in the hall housing matrix hammers, presses, induction furnaces for heat treatment of metal workpieces and other sources of noise.
