The Sheffield Group

 

The Sheffield Group is an informal International Group of Directors of Occupational Safety and Health Research Institutes established in 1989 on the initiative of the UK Health and Safety Executive/Health and Safety Laboratory. Group members include CEOs of leading institutes in European countries, the United States, Canada, Australia, and others. All members meet annually.

 

The main objectives of the Sheffield Group's activities:

  • exchanging information on activity programmes,
  • developing methods to improve cooperation and coordination within the above programmes,
  • enabling the mutual use of research resources, exchanging researchers, undertaking joint research initiatives,
  • obtaining information on the challenges and prospects for shaping the working environment,
  • jointly developing reviews of the level of scientific knowledge on health and safety issues.
