Out of 38 million inhabitants in Poland (2011):

  • Ca. 17.6 million active professionally
    (incl. 15.9 million working and 1.8 million unemployed)
  • Ca. 14.1 million outside of active employment

Among the workers the dominant form of contracting is the employment relationship. Those workers make up over 77% of working population, while employers and self-employed over 19% (as for Q1 2011).

In 2011, Poland had 3,9 million registered businesses, 97% of which were private sector entities. Also, 95% of employers were those employing under 10 persons.
