Abstract

Acoustic evaluation of teaching rooms with incomplete information about the acoustic parameters and application of SVD method.

Project manager: Jan Radosz M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The purpose of the project was to devise a method for evaluating acoustic quality in teaching rooms method, in the absence of complete information about all factors having influence on that evaluation. In order to devise a complex evaluation of acoustics quality in teaching rooms a ratio method was used, which determines single number global index based on sub-indices. Application of method in 9 chosen representative rooms enabled establishing a matrix of observations, which helped in detailed analysis of the variables using the SVD. On the basis of this analysis 2 computational models were elaborated (for different variants of input) to determine global index acoustic quality of teaching rooms with incomplete information about sub-indices. In order to verify the method of evaluation 5 classrooms were selected, in which acoustic adaptations were proposed and performed, as well as, acoustic measurements were carried out both before and after the adaptation. In order to effectively spread project results a thematic website service CIOP-PIB (halaswszkole.pl) was prepared, which included among others informational materials about acoustic evaluation in teaching rooms with incomplete information about acoustic parameters using the SVD method, and a number of computer tools used for this purpose.
