Abstract

Computer tools using virtual reality technology for interactive mapping of selected mechanical hazards to prevent high potential incidents when operating the crane

Project manager: Dariusz Kalwasiński M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The main objective of the task was to create in virtual reality technology computer tool for interactive mapping of selected mechanical issues in order to prevent high potential incidents when operating the crane (called the crane simulator). The simulator will be operated using VR instrumentation (ie. Info gloves putting on both hands and info helmet) and two real control panels. User of simulator will be able to interactively manipulate virtual gantry while performing common tasks related to the trucking in the production and warehouse hall environment. Made simulator will also enable the trainee to participate in initiated high potential incidents that may occur while operating a virtual crane. Assumptions for the implementation of the simulator was developed based on the results of analysis of statistical data on accidents at work and consultation with representatives of workplaces. Developed assumptions and collected photographic documentation of actual working conditions were the basis for the implementation of the computer models objects of virtual crane work environment .Made object models are combined together to form a computer work environment of production and warehouse area of about 4500 square meters. Then developed a computer program for interactive simulation of virtual crane use and mapping of high potential incidents occurring during use.
