Abstract

Maintenance and development of systems assuring the quality of testing and calibration laboratories

Project summary:

"The aim of the task was to maintain and assure the development of technical and organizational competence of the Institute in quality management in testing and calibration laboratories. The task involved: - development of new parts of the general documentation of quality management systems in the Institute's testing and calibration laboratories, which meet the requirements in the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard ""General requirements for the competences of testing and calibration laboratories""; - development of new testing procedures; - development of new instructions related to estimating measurement uncertainty; - modernization of stands for testing and calibration; - correction and prevention actions; - checking the quality of testing and calibration; - conducting internal audits and management reviews; - maintenance of the competence of the staff of testing and calibration laboratories.A new, 6th edition of the ""Quality book of testing laboratories"", the ""Book of organizational procedures of testing laboratories"" and a new, 3rd edition of the ""Quality book of calibration laboratories"" were developed. They meet the requirements of the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard.Moreover, 53 changes were made in the quality book and 51 changes in the ""Book of organizational procedures"" within the framework of improving the quality management systems in testing laboratories, and in the case of the quality management system in calibration laboratories - 41 changes each in the quality book and in the ""Book of organizational procedures"".As a result of the audits carried out by the Polish Centre for Accreditation, the effectiveness of the implementation and operation of the quality management system were confirmed and the scope of accreditation was extended by 58 new testing procedures, whereas the accreditation certificate was extended until September 17, 2010."
