Abstract

Development of principles for improving working conditions of mobility-impaired people doing telework in the area of workstation ergonomics

Project manager: Tomasz Tokarski Ph.D.

Project summary:

The aim of the task was to develop guidelines for preventing secondary disability of people with disabilities and guidelines for creating ergonomic workstations for mobility-impaired teleworkers.Surface electromyography was used to measure load of selected muscles during work, static load was assessed and elements of workstations underwent ergonomic evaluation. These were the bases for modernizing the workstation with consideration for the principles of ergonomics. The workstation for people with disabilities was assessed twice with questionnaires: before and after modernization of the workstations. The main issue related to shaping the working conditions of mobility-impaired people was their lack of awareness of existing problems.
