Selected aspects of the selection of gloves for work in the furniture industry
Paulina Chęsy, Paulina Wójcik, Joanna Kurpiewska

This article presents the most common hazards present in the furniture industry and the principles for selecting gloves protecting against them. An analysis of the occupational activities at different workstations in the furniture industry has shown that the greatest risk is associated with exposure to a single factor (mechanical, chemical or thermal) or the simultaneous operation of two factors (mechanical and chemical) or three factors (mechanical, chemical and thermal). Therefore, this article discusses standards, which describe the requirements protective gloves should meet to be used in exposure to the aforementioned factors. It also presents – for selected occupational activities – types of workplace hazards, sample recommended constructions of and materials for protective gloves.

Evaluating comfort of selected models of PPE with 3D digital mapping
Krzysztof Makowski, Agnieszka Brochocka, Emilia Irzmańska

This article presents a study on the comfort of footwear, masks and respirators individually fitted to the shape of the human body. 3D digital mapping was used to make models of personal protective equipment (PPE). Thus obtained models were evaluated for comfort by comparing them with standard products available on the market. The results showed that individual adjustment of PPE modified with digital mapping of anthropometric measurements significantly improved the comfort of their use.

The daily environmental noise level descriptors distribution analysis at chosen measurement points
Honorata Kujawa-Łobaczewska, Jerzy Maciejczyk, Tadeusz Wszołek

The analysis of distribution of traffic noise measurement results performed within the long time chosen periods and calculated noise level descriptors are presented in the paper. Results and conclusions of the analysis will be used in next steps of the researches for developing a procedure which should allow to choose a measurement point localization and a measurements period. The procedure should assure proper calculation of LDEN noise level descriptor for an incomplete set of measurements days. The calculations are made on basis of long period traffic noise monitoring results. The monitoring was conducted in 4 points in the main towns of kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship: Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Włocławek and Grudziądz. The calculations result are presented.

Eye load at a workstation with modern information and communication devices with a display
Joanna Kamińska

This paper presents information on eye discomfort among people working with a computer at workstations with modern information and communication devices with a display (air traffic controllers, firefighters, gas transmission dispatchers, etc.). In their work, eye perception and decision-making  are very important aspects of load. This paper discusses the main factors that can increase eye load and the principles of prevention in terms of occupational health and safety.
