Abstract

Evaluation of the companies functioning in the area of health and safety with the use of performance and leading indicators.

Project summary:

Performance and leading indicators were defined, which can be applied in order to assess the companies functioning in the area of health and safety, and methods of their determination, as well as tools prepared in the form of lists of sampling questions, supporting their determination on the basis of the functioning diagnosis in the area of occupational health and safety. Developed methods and tools were verified on the basis of their pilot study in order to assess functioning in the area of occupational health and safety in 20 companies. Tests were performed in 60 enterprises of varying levels of functioning in the area of health and safety, as well as, statistical analysis was carried out of the results in order to determine which performance and leading indicator are used to assess and monitor the functioning, plus whether and which dependencies occur between the usage of indicators in monitoring processes and performance indicators values characterizing the achieved level of safety and health. Among the leading indicators characterizing the actions, most frequently mentioned is the number of workers participating in health and safety training. Pilot computer program, which assists in the EHS functioning evaluation and selection of performance and leading indicators, was developed and implemented in 3 companies.
