Abstract

Implementation of a method of testing resistance to misting of eye protectors

Project manager: Grzegorz Owczarek Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The aim of the task was to construct a test stand and to implement a method of testing resistance to misting of eye protectors into a system of assessing compliance . Two test methods were analysed: the first one consisted in measuring time when misting appears, the other in assessing the visual quality of the reference image seen through a video camera. For the first method: - the detailed way of preparing and conditioning samples was presented - a method of measuring "nondispersed light" was analysed in the context of using it to test the degree of misting of optical elements - basic requirements for constructing a test stand were presented, the technical possibilities of meeting them were pointed out - draft documentation for constructing the test stand was prepared, it is an element of the implemented method of testing resistance to misting of eye protectors. Moreover, a test stand was constructed and a procedure was developed for testing eye protectors for occupational and nonoccupational purposes regarding its resistance to misting. A testing procedure "Testing resistance to misting " was verified and implemented into the national system of assessing compliance.
