Abstract

Threat assessment and identification of hazardous chemicals emitted while producing of some plastics and flame retardant fabrics containing flame retardants and nanoparticles

Project manager: Wojciech Zatorski Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The result of the study is a list of 150 substances and nanoparticles using as flame retardants in the technological process of production of plastics and fabrics. The list contains basic information on flame retardants using to reduce flammability of plastics and fabrics. Specified flame retardants information consists of chemical characteristics and threats and recommendations regarding safety.
Influence of identified flame retardants on human health was also analysed. Threat analysis showed that flame retardants consists chemical substances that could be dangerous for human health.
There were specified the demand on flame retardants in Europe and in Poland, market trend and growth dynamic of this section of chemical industry. Number of workers who could be potentially exposed to flame retardants were also specified.
As a result of this study there were developed information and training materials on safety work while producing plastics and flame retardant fabrics.
