Abstract

The development of the principles of a system of establishing state gas standards for assessing purity of workplace air in Poland

Project manager: Krzysztof M. Benczek Ph.D.

Project summary:

The main aim of the task was to develop a system of establishing gas standards in Poland and a way of producing certified gas standards to be used mainly for calibration of electrical apparatus for determining air pollutants.A stand was constructed. Also developed were ways- to clean a bottle by rinsing it several times with a neutral gas, heating it and pumping out vacuum,- to produce standard gas mixtures with a weight/pressure controlling method. The task also resulted in the development of a method of assessing the stability of gas standards and in tests of the stability of standard mixtures of carbon monoxide. Three standard mixtures of carbon monoxide in nitrogen of 15, 56.5 and 170 ppm were also developed. It was found that those mixtures are stable for at least four years
