Abstract

Impact of selected aluminosilicate nanopartciles used in production of polymer nanocomposites on pulmonary surfactant .

Project manager: Dorota Kondej Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The aim of the project was to assess the impact of the selected aluminosilicate nanopartciles used in the production polymer nanocomposites on the surface properties pulmonary surfactant and its main component - dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC). Assessment was based on the analysis of results of surfactant model surface activity variations, which represents the properties of endogenous surfactant and its main phospholipid component (DPPC) occurring in the presence of aluminosilicate nanopartciles and aluminosilicate nanopartciles modified surfactant. The study was conducted using the pulsating bubble method, Langmuir-Wilhelmy weight method and hanging drop method.
Within project implementation a method of testing the effect of nanoparticles on the dynamic surface tension of pulmonary surfactant in the pulsating bladder system and method for testing changes in surface properties of monolayer under the influence of nanopowders articles used in workplaces. Moreover handouts designed for employers and employees exposed to nanoparticles were prepared.
