Operators of commonly used vibrating hand tools are among those most exposed to hand-arm vibration, whereas operators of construction or road machines and transport vehicle drivers are primarily exposed to whole-body vibration. Vibration can lead to various pathologies, mainly in the vascular, nervous and osteoarticular systems (the vibration syndrome).
The Institute's activities:
- studying and evaluating occupational risk related to exposure to vibration
- testing and assessing attenuation and vibration-insulating properties of materials protecting against vibration
- testing and assessing the properties of anti-vibration gloves and selecting appropriate ones for given models of vibrating tools
