Analysis of requirements for parameters and tests of automatic welding filters following the implementation of new European standards
JOANNA SZKUDLAREK

The development of new designs of welding shields equipped with automatic welding filters and the implementation of new European standards force changes for research laboratories as well as manufacturers of protective equipment. As a consequence, the Department of Personal Protective Equipment of the Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute adapts its research and measurement equipment to the requirements of the new ISO standards and new PPE construction solutions. Important information for manufacturers concerns the increased requirements for the transmission coefficient and marking of the product. In both cases, the standard introduces a different approach for flat and curved AWF for the first time.

Needs and expectations for enhanced visibility PPE, intended for non-professional use. Results of surveys conducted among vulnerable road users
AGNIESZKA GRESZTA

Enhanced visibility personal protective equipment (PPE), including warning clothing and retroreflective accessories, can increase the user's safety on the road thanks to the fluorescent and/or retroreflective materials used. Unfortunately, most of these products do not encourage to use, mainly due to their unattractive appearance and low quality of workmanship. Due to the large number of road accidents involving vulnerable road users (including pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists), it is necessary to increase public awareness of enhanced visibility PPE and develop new PPE, attractive in terms of the design, in line with the expectations of target users. For this purpose, surveys were carried out among various groups of vulnerable road users, which were aimed at understanding their needs in relation to new enhanced visibility PPE. The obtained results will constitute the basis for developing the material and construction assumptions for new PPE.
