Abstract

Measurement and assessment of exposure to nanoparticles in work areas

Project manager: Dorota Kondej M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

This research task consisted in measuring the dust concentration in selected industrial areas and offices located near industrial areas in enterprises. Measurements of dust concentration were done with the following research methods: filtration-gravimetric methods used in Poland, using equipment with a short time of sampling. An analysis of the results of the measurements of dust concentration and an analysis of the research methods were used in developing a method of determining indicators of the intensity of dust on the basis of the results of the measurement of the concentration of fine particles determined with the use of measurement equipment with a short time of sampling. Occupational hazard related to the presence of fine particles in industrial areas and in offices located near industrial areas was also assessed in the enterprises studied.Procedures of determining - during a work shift - the distribution of fine particles present in workplace air, with the use of measurement equipment with a short time of sampling were developed.
