Abstract

Simulation, using virtual reality, of accident hazards in in-house transport

Project manager: Krystyna Myrcha Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

Applications of a human-transport vehicle-environment models were developed and constructed using virtual reality. They are used to simulate accident hazards in in-house transport. Enterprises with mechanical hazards in transportation were selected. In the selected enterprises extensive documentation was gathered: shop floors - with the machinery and other equipment present there - were photographed, film and described. Two basic tools for building computer models for virtual reality - VRML and MAYA - were selected. Independent applications of the human-transport vehicle-environment models were constructed in virtual reality using VRML and MAYA software. The developed applications make it possible to simulate accident hazards in in-house transportation present when, e.g., loading cargo, avoiding other users of the shop floor, manoeuvring, etc.
