Abstract

Development of computer tools supporting systemic occupational safety and health management in enterprises

Project summary:

This task consisted in expanding, improving and upgrading the STER computer system, which supports systemic occupational safety and health management in an enterprise, in accordance with the progress of knowledge and legislation, and taking into consideration the user's experience and needs. Its functionality was improved through an addition of new, useful functions and procedures, and through an optimization of the already existing functions and procedures. The possibility of introducing a multi-layer organizational structure of an enterprise was implemented in STER. To do that, many changes in the structure of the database and in the source code of the system were made.Indispensable changes were made in the algorithms for computing the measuring data introduced by the users. Their aim was to obtain criteria values comparable with updated admissible values. Methods of determining the level of occupational risk for chemical agents, dusts, IR and UV radiation were modified in accordance with new legal regulations. The possibility to analyse a new physical factor ? visual radiation ? was also implemented in the system.The task resulted in the development of 6 versions of STER (5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 6.0, 6.1, 6.2), which was passed on - together with documentation - to over 100 enterprises.
