Abstract

Development of model solutions for response detectors in an individual protective equipment against falls from height.

Project manager: Marcin Jachowicz Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

Protective equipment against falls from height constitutes a group of individual protection, which usage and proper action has a direct impact on ensuring safe work conditions, and thus it has an influence on the life and health of employees. Recognition of changes during fall arrest in this protection group required development of new test methods and evaluation criteria. The tests were performed using a modified apparatus for static test of mechanical elements equipped with ZWlCK hardness machine and for research of dynamic mechanical elements. Studies determined which of the changes taking place in the items result in a reduction of its usage safety and limit values of those changes were set. Force - load characteristics for static and dynamic conditions were developed, for selected elements and elements of the equipment. Three model solutions of equipment operation detectors were designed and implemented, which are additional elements integrated with the equipment, that are responsible for alerting its user about the time of its service or replacement. Research was conducted on the functioning of detector models by self-developed test methods.
