Abstract

Developing procedures and stands for testing protective parameters of industrial helmets and sports/recreation helmets that protect the head against crashes against immobile objects

Project manager: Marcin Jachowicz Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

In order to test protective parameters of industrial helmets, a stand was developed and built for testing shock absorbing properties of industrial helmets and sports/recreation helmets that protect the head against crashes against immobile objects. The tests showed that the values of acceleration obtained for industrial helmets are several times lower than for sports helmets; however, their duration is much longer. As part of the task, a stand was designed and built for testing the efficiency and strength of the system that attaches helmets. Also developed were test methods and then procedures on the ability of the helmet to absorb a crash, the efficiency and the strength of the system that holds the helmet in place.
