Abstract

Toxic effect of metal and metal oxides nanoparticles was assessed by the usage of in vitro methods for the risk prevention.

Project manager: Lidia Zapór Ph.D.

Project summary:

The project laid out and implemented the following specific objectives:
- An evaluation of nanoparticles cytotoxic effect of silver and zinc oxides depending on the size of particles, depending on the size of particles bioavailability of zinc oxide was rated at the cellular level, aerobic metabolism disorders of cells were examined under the influence of nanoparticles of silver and zinc oxide, as well as, the impact of silver and zinc oxide nanoparticles on the level of damage in genetic material (DNA) cells,
- Developed an information brochure concerning hazards arising from the toxic effects of metal / metal oxide nanoparticles, training materials were prepared including multimedia presentation concerning evaluation and minimization of occupational hazards for working while being exposed to metal / metal oxide nanoparticles, recommendations were developed which focused on assessment and minimization for those who work in exposure to metal / metal oxide nanoparticles and further on all data were spread on the internet service CIOP-PIB and a seminar was conducted which verified all materials,
- Publications were prepared which disseminated results of the project
