Abstract

Development of procedures for testing and assessing vibroisolating devices for attenuating whole-body and hand-transmitted vibration hazards at workstations with regard to meeting European Union standards (a computer database)

Project manager: Janusz Szopa Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

A proposal for a measurement procedure has been presented as well as a plan for a modernization of a test stand for testing materials in accordance with the PN EN ISO 10846-1:2002 and PN EN ISO 10846-1:2002 standards. A test stand for testing gloves was modernized, a new test handle was designed and produced. A test platform for testing whole-body vibration was designed and produced. It makes it possible to test transfer of vibrations and mechanical impact in real conditions. A procedure for testing and algorithms for MATLAB software were developed. Pilot tests were conducted according to the developed procedure on a modernized test stand for measuring the efficiency of equipment protecting against hand-transmitted vibrations. Changes were made to the structure of the test handle in order to eliminate the mistakes created when screwing together the test handle and to make it possible to conduct tests at real workstations. The test results were used to develop a computer database for reducing hazards related to mechanical vibration.
