Exposure calculator: whole-body vibration

The calculator is designed to calculate daily vibration exposure transmitted to the body as whole-body vibration, usually through the soles of the feet and the back for an activity longer than 30 min. It assesses occupational risk associated with exposure to whole-body vibration, depending on whether a worker is at special risk.

The following quantities are used to measure exposure to whole-body vibration:
awz - dominant value of frequency-weighted acceleration,
ti - total duration (per day) of vibration exposure (longer than 30 min).

The left part of the program displays the bar chart with a value of the dominant value of frequency-weighted acceleration (awz on the vertical axis) and exposure time (t on the horizontal axis). The calculated value of daily vibration exposure is displayed in the upper part of the window and, graphically, in the right part of the window. The height of two bars reflects the values of daily vibration exposure, whereas colors reflect the results of occupational risk assessment. The first, wider bar represents workers who are not at special risk; the other one represents young workers. According to the regulation below, pregnant women cannot be exposed to whole-body vibration at work.

Color marking in occupational risk assessment:
green - low risk,
yellow - medium risk,
red - high risk.

Occupational risk assessment is performed in relation to the applicable limit values, specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy of June 12, 2018 regarding the highest admissible concentrations and intensities of factors harmful to health in the work environment (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1286). For pregnant women and young workers limit values are set out in the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of April 3, 2017 on the list of works that are onerous, dangerous or harmful to the health of pregnant women and women who breast-feed their baby (Journal of Laws 2017 item. 796) and the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 5 July 2005 amending the regulation on the list of prohibited work for adolescents and the conditions of their employment for some of these works (Journal of Laws 2005, no. 136, item. 1145, last change Journal of Laws 2015 item 929)
