Risk behaviors in young drivers group: fuzzy-trace theory approach
Łukasz Kapica , Michał Obidziński

The police statistics on car accidents show overrepresentation of perpetrators among young drivers group. This article presents the selected studies on this specific issue. Then above-mentioned issue is analyzed in the perspective of the cognitive processes described in the Fuzzy-Trace Theory which assumes, that there are two separate and parallel memory traces (verbatim and gist trace). It also describes the relation between these two types of traces and processes of analytical (based on verbatim) and intuitional (based on gist) decision making.

Furthermore, theory assumes, that risky behaviors can be caused by the reasoning based on the verbatim trace. It also shows, that this type of reasoning dominates in youth. Therefore, Fuzzy-Trace Theory can explain the frequent risky behaviors of young drivers.

Chosen determinants for the selection and use of collective protection equipment against falls from height in the construction
Andrzej Dąbrowski

The paper presents chosen determinants of selection and use of collective protection measures (CPE) against falls from height in the construction industry, identified during research of accidents and in 10 selected construction plants. Attention was drawn to the complexity of the identified 11 typical construction works (with a share of tasks at height), which were assigned from 15 to 40 tasks. The importance of identifying all works at height (long-term, occasional) is discussed on an example of finishing works. On the example of guardrails and nets the influence of the scope and conditions of performing construction works on the diversity of selection of CPE is presented.. It was emphasized that the guidelines developed as a result of the research, supporting the selection and use of the CPE against falling from a height will be an auxiliary tool, that doesn't relieve supervisors and persons preparing OSH operational documents from thinking.

Trust vs. social and professional functioning (1) The concept of trust, the level of trust of Poles, the importance of trust to social life
Szymon Ordysiński

The article attempts to identify key elements of the concept of trust, such as accepting vulnerability for loss, generalized norm of reciprocity, positive conviction towards the trustee's intentions and credibility of the trustee. The results of analyzes of publicly available data were also presented, which indicate that Poles have a very low level of trust in other people and public institutions. The article also draws attention to the importance of trust for contemporary societies, which according to the analyzes of existing data are strongly related to many key indicators of quality of life, such as a sense of happiness or satisfaction with public life.
