The commercially available filtering half masks designed to protect against smog do not meet the requirements for protection against aerosols (dusts, fumes), and even more so, against chemical substances found in the smog; often do not have the CE marking. The article presents legal requirements and presents the basic methods for assessment the effectiveness of such half masks, so that it is a safe for a potential user. The influence of the half mask construction on the protective and functional parameters was described. It is very important to use adequate filtering half mask with CE mark  when  so-called Smog is present  in the atmospheric air.

Firefighters’ preferences regarding underwear – survey results
    Grażyna Bartkowiak, Pamela Miśkiewicz

People working as firefighters are frequently exposed to heat factors such as flame or hot objects and surfaces associated with the work environment. As a result of the combination of protective clothing and physical effort in the hot microclimate, unfavorable hydrothermal conditions are formed under clothing, causing serious thermal discomfort. Improving comfort and safety of firefighters can be obtained among others through properly selected underwear clothing made from materials supporting the removal of sweat, water vapour and heat, limiting the accumulation of heat.

In order to obtain information about the clothing worn under protective clothing and underwear which is most often used and to recognize preferences and expectations in this area, a survey  was carried out among   firefighters who are exposed to heat factors during fire-fighting activities.

Anxiety and stress. How policemen deal with these emotional states? Own research results:
    Zofia Kardasz, Justyna Lorens

The purpose of this study was to investigate anxiety as a status quo, either as a personality trait, a level of stress, and how to deal with it in Criminal Police and Prevention and Traffic. Assumptions about the purpose of the study indicated a higher level of anxiety and stress in Criminal Police officers. These hypotheses were based on the character of uniform work of a given Branch. The nature of this specialization is influenced by the environmental conditions of work, the dynamics of change, the presence of criminogenic factors and the responsibility of the tasks aimed at combating crime. The greater the presence of risk factors, the better should be the countermeasures. These assumptions were confirmed because Criminal Police officers showed task-oriented problem-solving and tensions. This gives you the ability to be effective and effective in your occupation and prevent burnout.

Ergonomics of work and movement disorders among dentists
Natalia Kuciel, Iwona Demczyszak, Edyta Sutkowska, Michał Sokołowski, Justyna Mazurek, Katarzyna Kaczmarz, Jan Lurbiecki

Dentists in the workplace are exposed to a number of factors that affect the condition of the movement system. The main problem seams to be the static nature of work due to the adoption of forced body position.

The aim of the study was to demonstrate the relationship between the use of ergonomics principles in the professional work of dentists and the occurrence of motor disorders. In addition, knowledge of the principles of dental ergonomics in this group was assessed.

The study was conducted among 79 dentists. The knowledge and application of the principles of ergonomics and the occurrence of ailments within the motor system were evaluated.
Only 4% of dentists were taking a break from work after each patient, while 18% were working without interruption. The vast majority (84%) of dentists, while performing dental surgery, took a sitting position. More than half (54%) of dentists who participated in the study worked with assistants. Among people who experience pain in the cervical spine 54% of people worke in the position with neck inclined to the right.

Most principles of ergonomics are not correct, so they should be adjusted individually to a particular dentist taking into account its physical capabilities, the geometry of the work environment, the range of activities performed, and personal preferences as well.
