Nowadays, in the context of demographic changes, increasingly we talk about the need of employees to maintain a work-life balance, primarily family life. The aim of this article is to present the results of research conducted among 100 employers in Poland, representing the five types of sections according to the Polish Classification of Activities ("administration and support services", "trade", "health care and social services", "construction" and "accommodation and catering"), concerning their views on this issue in general in Poland and in the companies they run. They were also asked what kind of activities related to work-life balance they offer their employees. The study shows that employers recognize the problem of reconciling work and life in general in Poland, but are not fully convinced that the problem relates directly to employees in the companies they run.

This paper presents 15 parameters of the human foot and a methodology for measuring them with a 3D handy scanner. This kind of measurement is a basis for designing shoes for a given group of users or products dedicated for an individual client. Fifteen foot parameters were measured for 55 volunteers in the sitting position (for an unloaded foot) and in the standing position (for a loaded foot) before and after effort. The results were then analysed.

The objective of the paper was to outline the basic issues concerning toecaps used in protective footwear. Classification of the toecaps in the context of the level of protection provided was presented. Types of materials used in construction of the toecaps were characterized in particular the division into metal and composite structures. The standard and unconventional testing methods of toecaps protecting against mechanical impacts were also discussed.

Measuring hazards occurring during woodworking with a high speed camera
    Mariusz Dąbrowski

The article is devoted to problems in experimental testing of dangerous dynamic occurrences during woodworking. An original method of measuring the speed of kickback of machined piece of wood as well as the new deploying the use of a high-speed camera and a specific computer program for evaluating registered images, were both described in the article. The new measurement method has proven to be very precise and insensitive to both wood chips and dust, which had been the main difficulty in earlier experiments. The new method can be also recommended to the measurements of speed of other violent and dangerous occurrences during woodworking processes which generate chips and dust.
