Abstract

Estimation of electromagnetic hazards for physiotherapeutic devices.

Project manager: Krzysztof Gryz Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

Using bibliographical data, visits in health care institutions and questionnaire researches there were analysed factors determining the level of electromagnetic hazards connected with exploitation of physiotherapeutic devices, such as
- construction data of all devices;
- spatial organisation of health care institutions offering physiotherapeutic services, included rooms and workstations;
- preventive means of collective protection;
- way of performing treatments for patients;
- number of treatments;
- number of workers performing treatments;
- personnel`s know-how.
It was stated an insufficient level of the knowledge of both employees and employers, concerning electromagnetic hazards for physiotherapeutic devices as well as safety work methods. Questionnaire form showed improper actions connected with implementation of labour law and that employees were not informed on electromagnetic hazards at work so that they could not avoid them.
There were conducted laboratory and field researches on workers serving physiotherapy diathermies for hand and foot with the use of phantoms. Next, this method was estimated in regard with electromagnetic hazards for the workers. There was drawn up the universal research method of electromagnetic hazards for workers servicing physiotherapeutic devices, basing on time and frequency contexts.
