Abstract

Evaluation of materials to be used for collective protection against ultrasonic noise. Data basis study

Project manager: Bożena Smagowska M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

To realise this study survey procedure was developed to determine sound absorption coefficient to be used for collective protection against ultrasonic noise.
This coefficient was determined in the test stand constructed for frequency 10-40 kHz consisting of test chamber and measuring tools enabling to generate ultrasonic signal and to measure distant sound time. Distant sound time is measured in a test chamber that walls are covered with material; distant sound time is measured in five various points with the use of intermittent noise method. Results are averaged arithmetically. Calculated average distant sound time is the parameter of the formula to calculate sound absorption coefficient of tested material in the context of ultrasonic noise. This formula includes sound absorption in the air within tested frequencies.
Comparative studies with the use of polyurethane foam were made to verify constructed test stand. Received results confirmed legitimacy to use the/m test stand as well as research procedure.
