Abstract

The role of trade unions in the development of occupational health and safety.

Project summary:

An analysis of international and Polish law was carried which regulate trade unions rights, in particular including competence of trade union, in shaping safety and hygiene at work. Results of the analysis became the basis for survey development as a measuring tool in order to determine whether and to what extent trade unions use attributed to them legally powers to shape safety and hygiene at work. Best practices of trade unions were reviewed in the field of OSH in selected countries. Training materials (guidebook for lecturers and multimedia presentation recorded on CD) were prepared concerning regarding the participation of trade unions in shaping working conditions. Training materials were verified during a pilot training, carried for 40 participants.
