Abstract

An analysis of nontypical employment in the context of fulfilling the constitutional guarantee of occupational safety and health

Project manager: Barbara Krzyśków Ph.D.

Project summary:

The aim of the task was to present suggestions for changes in regulations on protecting the health and life of workers in nontypical employment on the basis of conducted analyses and studies. Regulations on nontypical employment were analysed from the point of view of ensuring a proper level of occupational safety and health. That was a basis for identifying persons doing temporary work and work for unemployed under-25-year-olds. Then a questionnaire survey of 122 temporary workers was conducted. 420 young trainees were surveyed, too. An analysis of the results showed that the employer and the organizers of temporary employment fulfilled most of the obligations related to ensuring safe and healthy working conditions to both groups of workers. However, those people were not provided with personal protective equipment, protective clothing or safety shoes they were entitled to. Neither were they provided with free food or drink at work. The conducted analyses of the regulations, a standard agreement between a temporary work agency and an employer, and the questionnaires led to formulating suggestions for changes in regulations related to employing temporary workers and trainees.
