Abstract

Development of polymer stretching temperature sensors for use in the barrier materials construction.

Project manager: Grzegorz Owczarek Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The aim of the project was to develop model solutions of polymeric temperature sensors and / or stretching enabling visual evaluation of materials mechanical or thermal damage used in the construction of selected personal protective equipment. In the design of developed and manufactured stretching and temperature sensor models two types of dyes were used:
- Luminescent - for the construction of luminescent stretching and temperature sensors
- Thermochromic - for the construction of thermochromic temperature sensors.
For coloring polymers following methods were used:
- Dyeing in the mass (by extrusion of powdered dye with polymer granules or by adding a dye to the dissolved polymer granules),
- Inkjet printing technology,
- Immersion (by immersing the polymer film in dye solution).
