Abstract

Research method of the process of permeation of organic solvents in low temperatures through coated protective materials modified by nanofillers

Project manager: Krzysztof Łężak M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

Main purpose of this study was to develop research method of permeation of organic solvents in low temperatures through elastomeric protective materials.
Study course:
- analysis of the chemical threats for the human skin and body and the need to wear proper protective clothing;
- indication of dependence of protection degree of protective clothing on its type and used elastomeric materials;
- indication of dependence of chemical resistance on temperature;
- developing research method of permeation of organic solvents in low temperatures through elastomeric protective materials due to the Polish standard PN-EN ISO 6529:2005.
It was constructed the test stand to research permeation of organic solvents through elastomeric protective materials in temperatures [+20; -20] ?C. The most important test stand elements were air cooling chamber, permeation cell and measuring tools i.e. gas chromatograph type SRI Instruments 8610C with flame ionisation detector (FID) equipped with an automatic valve dispensing mixture of air - fumes of organic solvent, chromatograph coupled with computer enabling online analysis and data storage.
Developed research procedure of studies in question as well as information materials regarding temperature influence on permeation process of organic solvents through coated protective materials and polymer pellicles were drawn up to be further used to produce protective clothing and gloves.
