Abstract

The effect of age and gender on workers fatigue based on the electrical muscles activity record.

Project manager: Paweł Bartuzi Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

Within the project experimental studies were carried out involving measurements of electrical muscles activity, using surface electromyography, measurements of external forces, measurements of the total physical capacity based on maximum oxygen uptake and the measurement of the body fat percentage. In experimental studies took part 60 people who were divided into four groups of fifteen and differentiated according to their age and gender. After analyzing the results, parameters of the EMG signal were defined, which based on statistics test results indicated occurrence of muscle fatigue, as well as the influence of participants age and sex on the value of these parameters. The effect of age and gender on other parameters included in the study was determined. Based on the results of experimental studies an integrated method for assessing fatigue with regard to age and taking into account worker`s gender was developed. The developed method allows to specify the degree of fatigue of different muscle groups, occurring as a result of performing different activities of work, taking into account worker`s age and sex.
