Abstract

The development of procedures for assessing thermal insulation of clothing protecting against the cold during outdoor work

Project manager: Krzysztof Sołtyński Ph.D..

Project summary:

"The principles of a comprehensive assessment of the thermal stress for cold regions have been developed. Also, a strategy of estimating risk and load has been developed. The consecutive stages of this task involved, among others, selecting three ensembles of protective clothing to be used in a cold environment; measuring thermal insulation of the selected ensembles; developing the principles and a draft of a stand that makes the movement of a mannikin possible; presenting the subassemblies that make its movement, control and automation possible; developing, setting up and testing from the point of view of fulfilment of the assumed principles of the requirements of test stand that makes the movement of a thermal mannikin possible; developing the procedures for selecting protective clothing both for outdoor and indoor work; developing recommendations that make it possible to select clothing that protects against the cold outdoors."
