Abstract

Procedures for preventing major industrial accidents and limiting their effects - development of tools supporting the procedures, and development and assessment of the required documents

Project summary:

Within the scope of the task, materials on the general aspects of preventing major industrial accidents were developed and made available at www.ciop.pl; they are arranged in five groups of subjects: - definitions, course and effect of major industrial accidents - information on the course and effect of selected major industrial accidents - information on major industrial accidents: causes, scenarios, conclusions - substances involved and created in a major industrial accident - hazard of major industrial accidents in Poland. A discussion of the current international legal regulations (EU, OECD and ILO) and Polish ones on preventing major industrial accidents with the text of the legal acts, were prepared and published. Recommendations, information and other materials that make it easier to carry out the main elements (recommendations and procedures) of the system of preventing major industrial accidents were also developed. The requirements of the Seveso II directive and Polish regulations were presented and discussed.
