Abstract

Developing a method for occupational risk assessment and indentifying harmful substances emitted in processes of synthesis and processing melamines

Project manager: Wojciech Zatorski Ph.D. (Eng.)

Project summary:

During the task the most common melamine products available on the Polish market were tested. Workstations at which the most commonly used melamines are used underwent occupational risk assessment. The test results showed that during synthesis and processing melanine preparations selected for testing, many chemical substances that can adversely affect workers' health are emitted. On the basis of the tests that had been conducted, a list of chemical substances was developed. A method for assessing occupational risk related to exposure to harmful chemical substances emitted during the production and thermal processing of melanines was developed, too. The method is based on a quantitive and qualitative measurement of the emitted harmful chemical agents. Preventive recommendations have also been developed on safe work with melanines and recommendations for fire protection in enterprises that produce melanines.
