Abstract

Upper limb computer models with the ability to simulate fractures and head with industrial safety helmet for reconstruction and prevention of accidents at work.

Project manager: Marcin Milanowicz M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The aim of the project was to develop an upper limb computer model with the ability to simulate fractures (within the humerus, radius and ulna) and computer model of an industrial safety helmet, and then their implementation in a computer human model package Madymo. Such enriched computer model of a human will be used to reconstruct accidents at work, which will broaden knowledge about the causes, course and consequences of these accidental events. Improved computer model of a human will enable also forecasting accidents at workplaces, which further on will allow selection of appropriate security at the design stage of machinery and equipment. The project defined biomechanical parameters of the upper limbs necessary to design computer model of the upper limb. Upper limb model was developed with possibility of humerus and forearm bones fracture simulation, as well as, head model of an industrial safety helmet was created. Their technical specifications were listed, which summarize the data necessary to build models. Further on computer models were developed by the usage of multiunit method and checked for correctness of their functioning. Both models were implemented into a computer model of the human. Reconstructions of three accidents at work in which upper limb or head got injured were performed, which illustrated possibilities of the enriched computer human model.
