Development of procedures of reducing occupational risk related to electrical equipment of machines in operation

Project manager: Hubert Karski M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

Guidelines for reducing occupational risk related to electrical equipment of manufacturing machines were developed. They will be used by employers in adapting the machines that are used to the minimal safety requirements that result from the provisions of the regulation of the Minister of Economy of October 30, 2002.The task involved electrical equipment of machines, other technical equipment and the installations and switching equipment connected with them, powered by nominal AC of 50-1000 V and DC of 120-1500 V.A guidebook was developed. It describes methods of adapting electrical equipment of machines to the minimal safety requirements. It includes examples of how this should be done when modernizing real machines. There is also a list of safety requirements that unconditionally must be met in modernizing electrical equipment of machines. On the basis of the experience gathered during a practical verification of the method in enterprises, drafts of procedures were developed. They describe ways of carrying out individual activities in the process of reducing occupational riskTraining materials were developed, too. They help in training experts who adapt electrical equipment of machines do the minimal safety requirements.
