Abstract

Development and implementation of testing procedures and criteria of conformity assessment of dangerous woodworking machinery, harmonized with European directives and standards

Project manager: Mariusz Dąbrowski M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The aim of this task was to harmonize the methods of testing and EC type-examination of dangerous woodworking machinery used by European notified bodies. A range of safety features, the relevant standards and testing procedures related to individual kinds of such machinery have been presented. A review of CIOP-PIB's testing procedures has been conducted. As a result, changes involving an amendment of 7 existing procedures as well as the introduction of 9 new procedures have been suggested. Drafts of sample checklists according to the machinery directive (98/37/EC) and according to the type-C standards related to woodworking machinery (harmonized with the machine directive) have been developed. New test stands for testing that machinery have been built. The testing-calibration equipment was completed. Tests have confirmed that the suggested form of registering test and assessment results under the conditions of a body notified in the EU is useful. They have also made it possible to test in practice the newly developed procedures and test stands.
